I had spent my day wandering the wood
But now the fading light of evening fell
And I had to return to which I’d come
Still, I had no deep desire to go back
I lingered there, my pace slow and thoughts free
To marvel on the beauty that it held
All of the forest held wonders unmatched
Its branches wide open, framing the sky
The last rays of light through canopy fell
It left in me a longing I still have
To see them once more on a day like that
To stay when before I was forced to leave
and not wonder forever what it was like
