This is, unfortunately, not the best way to show this piece. The theme we were told to work with was "power" and we were supposed to use a material we were familiar with, and one we weren't. Now, these pictures, they are not actually of the piece itself, persay. The piece that I presented requires human involvement, and all I can show you were the tools I created to bring about the more interesting bits. It was really fun to be able to come into class, put two intentionally shoddy, hand-stitched, guantanamo-esque hoods and collars on people, and not only get away with it, but get applauded for it. Anyway, the real interesting parts were how the two people that ended up getting the treatment interacted with each other. The collar is double ended, with a cord binding it in the back, so the two people are blinded and bound to each other, as I commandeered my teddy bear to show. The cord is suprisingly stretchy... not that my vicitms knew this.
I wanted to actually present a visual show of power, two people both taking a dominant and submissive position, forced to give and take, unsure of what they can and cannot do, sort of put in this weird unstable area, at least until they get their footing. I must say, it was
amazing to watch. I should have recorded it.
